History

President and principal architect William E. Gould, AIA, founded the firm in 1996, under its original name Bill Gould Design. In 2011, the firm was renamed Artik Art & Architecture. The new name reflects our evolution as a full-service architecture firm committed to producing great educational environments. The name Artik refers to balancing artistic creativity with technical excellence to create functional, economical projects with the highest quality of design. It also reflects our roots of believing that all projects, no matter how limited, deserve the best design that the architect can provide. With these thoughts in mind we have consciously developed a practice that allows us to focus on just a few clients in order to provide the highest level of communication and service.

Firm Make-up

Our staff of 15, including highly trained architects, LEED Accredited Professionals, designers, and support personnel shares the goal in providing a high level of customer service and has developed strong working relationships with Artik’s clients and with each other. In addition, Artik has a very successful internship program; our office hosts numerous interns each semester and throughout the summer.
