Capuchino High School Phase III

Digital & Fine Arts Classroom Building, Two-Story Classroom Building & Performing Arts Center

The final phase of a $70m transformation of the Capuchino High School campus in San Bruno, this project included the construction of a new two-story classroom building, a new lobby addition at the main gymnasium, a stair tower addition to the auxiliary gym as well as full modernizations of both gyms. The middle of the U-shaped two-story classroom building defines the edge of the main quad on the upper campus to the south. On the north side, the wings open up to frame a new courtyard on the lower campus. The two-story arched colonnade and clay tile roofs continue the Spanish Mission design aesthetic that we first introduced to the campus in 2002. The building houses 28 classrooms, a staff workroom and lounge, a student government center and staff offices. On the other side of the new Athletics courtyard, directly opposite the new classroom building, is a new lobby addition to the main gymnasium building. The lobby provides direct access to the main gym as well as both stair and elevator access to the locker rooms on the lower level and an exercise studio on the mezzanine level. Both the main gymnasium building and auxiliary gymnasium building were fully modernized including new wood flooring, bleachers, scoreboards and sound systems in the gymnasiums as well as new locker rooms, team rooms, exercise rooms, a weight room and a dance studio.
