The Doris Dillon School

The Doris Dillon School Master Plan

The Doris Dillon School Master Plan, spearheaded by Bill Gould and Artik Art & Architecture, is a multi-year international partnership dedicated to enhancing the educational, artistic, and athletic environment for students in Cambodia. At the heart of this community-driven collaboration is the "Bamboo Hanging," a vibrant, 3,500-piece storytelling canopy hung between two classroom buildings. Hand-painted by local students alongside peers from Bret Harte Middle School in San Jose, it serves as both a beautiful shade structure and a central gathering space. This creative energy extends to the Music and Dance building, home to the "Traditions of the Mekong" mural—a rich tribute to Khmer heritage designed to inspire generations of students. That vision became a reality as students, and staff joined artist Paul J. Gonzalez to bring the wall to life.

Balancing these artistic expressions is a major athletic expansion designed to foster physical education and play. This is highlighted by a new professional concrete basketball court, meticulously engineered to align with local Cambodian materials and methods, alongside a future football field and long jump area. Together, these thoughtful elements transform the campus into a cohesive, vibrant space that inspires student cultural pride.
